Like a ship out of water sitting in an empty swimming pool, it’s been deeply unsettling to see the streets of Newcastle devoid of green bikes. Stop the tears. We’ve been keeping them warm and dry over the last three months and they’re about to roll back out on their festively plump tyres. That is with the exception of a group of our more philanthropic bicycles. They’re on their way to Africa, remember?
From February 1st, ScratchBikes will be open 24 hours a day once again. We’ve made a decision to remove a few stations. Sadly, the following racks will not reopen:
- A4 – Bigg Market.
- B7 – Malcolm Street, Heaton
- C1 – Northumbria University Coach Lane Campus.
- C2 – Northumbria University Central Campus.
- C5 – Cuthbert House.
We’re sorry to anyone who is affected by this change but with 17 stations open for business, disruption to the overall scheme has been kept to a minimum.
